Field Service Technician

Bausch Advanced Technologies Inc., a global leader in the pharmaceutical packaging machinery industry currently has an opening for a Field Service Technician for custom machine manufacturing and service in our expanding Clinton, CT facility. The Field Service Technician is responsible for assembly and service of pharmaceutical packaging machines including troubleshooting, installation, and startup of the equipment. The Field Service Technician will report directly to the assembly manager and will be responsible for field service of existing equipment at customer sites and any other tasks related to machines in the field. The Field Service Technician will be responsible for work both in house and at customer sites. Travel may be both domestic as well as abroad. Must be comfortable with flexible scheduling and unplanned schedule changes. Must be proficient with the use of hand tools and hands on work and with the use of measurement tools.
Responsibilities

The Field Service Technician will be responsible for supporting the service and assembly departments for day-to-day tasks. Including but not limited to

  • Machine assembly
  • Equipment troubleshooting
  • Rebuilding and or modifying existing machinery
  • Assist with functional testing and equipment checkout
  • Phone service and on-site trouble shooting and repair
  • Support customer service department
  • Close cooperation with respective design and electrical engineers
  • Maintain equipment and work area in a clean and orderly manner
  • Supporting documentation and validation on updates and corrections to machine related documents
  • Follow prescribed and standard safety regulations
  • Identify and coordinate parts required for repair with the customer and the service department
  • Travel to customer sites, complete drug alcohol safety testing, conduct repairs under sterile conditions using aseptic technique
  • Suggest, recommend spare parts, corrective actions and provide written service call reports to service department and customers
  • Perform other related duties as assigned, directed or within the scope of overall responsibilities

In addition to supporting day to day work on existing machines the Field Service Technician will support any new work in the field such as upgrades, retrofits, and installs. Including but not limited to:

  • Updating older equipment to modern standards
  • Changing overall machine functionality
  • Changing the type of product processed on machines
  • Integrating old equipment with new stations or machines
  • Re-configuring machine layouts
Qualifications
  • Advanced mechanical and pneumatic skills
  • Engineering experience is helpful
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings, schematics and machine specifications.
  • Ability to creatively and independently troubleshoot and solve technical problems.
  • Proficiency with PC, Microsoft Word, Excel, etc.
  • Experience with Solid works or CAD both 2D and 3D is a plus
  • 2+ Years relevant experience

This position requires a significant amount of traveling. A valid passport is required for this position. This position also requires the ability to possess a valid driver’s license and maintain a good driving record.

Experience with troubleshooting, installation and startup of similar equipment are required.
